Ebook Marketing - How To Effectively Market Your Ebook Online

SteveGeneral

If this is your first time here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or follow me on twitter.

You have read countless stories online how the latest internet marketer has become rich off of selling his ebook. So you go out and create your own ebook, thinking it will be the next big thing. They either create a small website in an attempt to promote the ebook, or they try and sell it on their blog that receives little traffic. Getting discouraged, they give up the idea of that ebook making them any money online and wonder what other people are doing to sell their ebooks.

Like I have said before in the past, it is all about the internet hustle and making it work for you. Unless you have a subscriber list of thousands of people all ready to buy your latest and greatest product, you are going to have to work to get your ebook sold. Let me run you through some things you can do that will help you in your efforts.

1. Word Of Mouth Marketing

Using places like facebook, twitter or even myspace is a great way for word of mouth marketing to take over for you. Interact with people, respond to their questions and build a relationship with them. This will not happen overnight, but in the long run you will be glad you did this. When it comes time to release your next great idea, you will already have a good list of friends to easily advertise it to with a few keystrokes and a click of the mouse button.

2. Give The Ebook Away For A Free Review

Contact other bloggers and see if they would be interested in reading over your ebook and offering a free review of the product. Many people would gladly do a free review since you are giving them the ebook to begin with. Use their reader base to help promote your ebook, it only thing you are doing is contacting these blog owners via email, instant message or even twitter. I would not contact any of the bigger bloggers unless you already are on speaking terms with them. They do not like to be bothered with emails pitching a product to them as they get so many each week. They will do nothing but delete that email and move on to the next in line.

3. Paid Review Of Your Ebook

If offering a free copy of your ebook for a review does not work, you can always purchase a review from sites. Some SEO’s will argue that this is link buying and will suggest in not doing this. Buying links is against Google’s rules, however with a paid review you can always have the link go to a separate site if you are worried about it. If you do not care, then simply have the review link right to your landing page or purchase page. If the ebook has good information and not just full of fluff, you can see a good increase in sales from larger sites who offer paid reviews.

4. Create And Utilize A Good Landing Page

This landing page can be used in conjunction with several of the tips throughout this article. You want the landing page for your ebook to look professional and not give away to much information to the viewer. Here are a few things to keep in mind when creating a landing page for your ebook.

  • Create an attractive header with the product name and even a catch phrase if you have one for the ebook.
  • Have your call to action above the fold, this will allow the viewer to see what they need to do next to buy your ebook or view any free chapters.
  • Show the cover on your ebook above the fold, this will allow the viewer to see what it is they are purchasing.
  • Be descriptive in the first paragraph, but do not make it sound like a sales pitch.
  • Use bullet points to show the reader what your ebook has to offer and why they should buy it.
  • Try and get testimonials from people who have reviewed your ebook, if you do not have any, make sure to get them and add them as soon as possible. You need to establish trust with your landing page, solid testimonials only help build that trust with the viewer.
  • Refund and Privacy Policy information should be shown to the viewer, they want reassurance that you are not going to just steal their money or information.
  • Make sure that not matter where they are on your landing page, the option to buy the product is one click away.

5. Create Teaser Chapters

Take pieces from your ebook and offer them to be read right on your site, this is just like giving someone a piece of candy with the hopes they can buy the whole bag from you. After the teaser excerpts, give the viewer the option to buy your ebook to read it in full. You can include one teaser on your landing page, or several teasers from multiple chapters if you have a multi page website.

6. Forum Marketing

Join forums that are related to what your ebook is about, add that link in your signature if the forum allows it. Interact with the members of any forum you join, this can take some time as with using social media, but it can work. You will not sell hundreds of copies of your ebook, but if you do sell it to the right person they can tell their friends or leave positive feedback on the forum for others to potentially buy. This can be slow going, so do not expect any great results right away.

7. Article Marketing

You can write articles related to your ebook and submit to places like Ezinearticles. Remember the article is about your niche or related to it, do not make it sound like a sales pitch to sell your product. Use the bio box to tell the reader about you and link to your site using keyword phrases you are trying to target. All it takes is one article a day and over time they will bring you traffic and sales if the articles contain good information. If you are not comfortable writing articles, you could always outsource this for just a few dollars per article. Make sure to proof read any articles before submitting and double check with a service like Copyscape to make sure it is not just a copied article.

8. Offer Your Ebook on Clickbank

With Clickbank you can post your ebook in their system for other website owners to market and sell for you. You will have to give out a % of each sale to those website owners, but they are doing all of the work for you. Keep your eyes out for a full post regarding Clickbank, how it works and what you can do to use it to your advantage.

9. Do Not Over Price Your Ebook

This is where a lot of people go wrong, they price their ebook well over what people will actually pay for it thinking they are going to get rich. Think if you were the buyer, would you spend $80 for an ebook? How about $70? I didn’t think so, unless your ebook is always being updated and well known, you will not see that much money. Then again, if your ebook is already well known, why would you be reading this? Keep your price range between $10 and $40, depending on how many pages your ebook contains and how good the information is in it.

10. Run A PPC Campaign

When thinking starting a PPC campaign for your ebook, look to see how much the keywords you want to target is going to cost you. If they are running $3/click and your ebook is only $15 you might want to either find other keywords or just forget about running a PPC. However if the keyword is only $1/click and your ebook is $30 then I would be using PPC to your advantage. This is one of the quickest ways to see sales come in for your ebook.

Remember your ebook will not sell itself, you need to do the leg work to get the ball rolling. Do not expect to sell hundreds of books right away, the reality is their are so many ebooks online. What makes your ebook better? Patience is key for anyone new to marketing, you need to keep your patience when marketing your ebook. If you lose your patience right away for whatever reason, you are hurting your own efforts to make this work for you. Stay focused and work hard, you will see results if the niche is not over saturated and you have a good product. Make sure you keep a list of every person who has bought your ebook, you can offer them new products in the future or even offer an updated ebook with more information for a discounted price.

How To Create An Ebook And Where To Start

SteveGeneral

Many of you have thought about making an ebook, either to give away for signing up for your newsletter or to sell it online. Some will say that their is no money to be made with selling ebooks, which is true for some niche’s. However, if you find the right niche and write a good ebook, the profits can show with the right marketing. So lets say you are unsure on how to make an ebook, where to start or what it really takes. Instead of looking more into the idea, you instead brush it off and continue to do your daily routine. Here I will show how to put the puzzle together in creating your own ebook.

What Do You Know?

This is the first question you should ask yourself before creating an ebook. What do you know, what are you passionate about? It is much easier for you to write on something you know more about then something you know nothing about. If this is in fact your first ebook, I suggest picking a topic that you are knowledgeable about. You will have to do less research in the creation process and it will be easier for you.

The Importance Of Research

Before you even starting writing your ebook, you will want to research first to see if anyone is even searching for the topic you are about to write on. You can use Google to see how many results are showing for certain keywords that pertain to your ebook. This should show you the people you are competing against, see what they are offering and how much their ebook is selling for. Scope them out, even buy an ebook to see what it contains so you know what you need to do better. You could take it a step further and create a google adwods account and use the keyword tool to research the monthly search volume for your targeted keywords.

Questions To Ask Yourself

Here is a simple list of things you can ask yourself and answer before you begin writing your ebook. If this is your first time then I suggest you not skip over anything, do it right the first time and not try to take short cuts to be done quicker. If you rush things, you are more prone to make mistakes.

  • What is the purpose of your ebook?
  • Why would someone buy this ebook?
  • What will this ebook contain?
  • What key elements will you be focusing on?
  • What will make this ebook different from the rest?
  • Who are you trying to target to sell this ebook to?
  • Why should someone buy your ebook?
  • How much do you want to sell it for?

More Research

If you know a lot about your topic, but feel uncomfortable in just how much you know, take the time and do some research on it. Their is no shame in having to go back and educate yourself a little more to make your ebook that much better. You will benefit yourself in the long run by doing this due to the fact you are putting more information into your ebook.

Putting Your Ebook Together

So you have researched your topic, looked at the competitor websites, maybe even bought one to see how it was laid out. You now feel comfortable with what you know and have your word processing software open. Do not start typing paragraphs just yet, instead I want you to think of every major point you want to talk about in your ebook. This will eventually make up your table of contents, but for now you are going to use it as an outline when writing your ebook.

With this outline completed, you can start writing for each chapter your ebook is going to consist of. Remember you can always alter the order at any time by simply cutting and pasting the chapters in any order you see fit. Adding images, graphs, etc is a great way to add more life to your ebook. Giving the readers visual references is better at times then just plain text. When you think you are completed with your ebook, make sure to spell check it and reread it at least twice. Give the ebook to a friend or relative to read over as well, getting as much feedback as possible is important before publishing the final product.

Publishing Your Ebook

Now it is time to publish your ebook and make it ready to sell on the internet. The most common form you will find an ebook published in is that of a PDF file. You can use CutePDF which offers a free tool at the time of this writing this to easily convert your word document. The other option would be that of a simple .exe file and using an ebook compiler software which you can find several by searching Google. A third option is that of DLGuard which will compile your ebook and track customer information, times downloaded, ability to ban a customer or IP address as well as a built in shopping cart and more.

To keep things simple, you can use CutePDF to convert your document in a matter of seconds and have your ebook completed and ready to sell. Tomorrow I will be covering ways you can market your newly created ebook online. Some of the methods discussed will be free, other methods will cost a little bit of money. Either way, you will be ready to market your ebook effectively online and be ready for the next challenge of making sales.

What Is Split Testing And Why You Should Do It

SteveGeneral

Split testing is about making variations of your advertising material and testing the results against each other.  Instead of just launching one landing page, create two or three of them to see which one converts better for you.  The same method applies for banners, PPC text ads, email subject lines, email message body, form submission fields and even ad placement on your sites.  Split testing requires more work because you are not only creating multiple items, you are then testing the results from each of them.  To get the best results possible for your marketing campaign, it is crucial to split test.  Many people think they have created the perfect landing page and do not want to do the extra work to create another one and test the results.  You are saving yourself time by not doing it, but you are potentially taking money out of your pocket by choosing not to split test.

Split Test Your PPC Ads

If you are using PPC to generate traffic to a site then you might have already created a few ad variations to use.  Are you looking at the results of those ad variations though and seeing where you can improve?  Get rid of the ads that have a very low CTR (click through ratio) compared to your other ads.  If you see a CTR of 2% on one ad and 0.07% on another ad, it is time to change the second ad for the CTR is over half as low as the first.  Writing good ad copy comes natural for some people, while others will need to experiment more often.  I know some of you are saying you will be wasting money by testing, but I want you to think long term.  In a few weeks you will have the best ad variations for your niche, these ads have a higher CTR then your originals.  By having this higher CTR, you are getting more valuable clicks to your site.  These clicks will hopefully turn into more sign ups or sales for you and generate more money.  So the money you originally thought you were wasting on testing is now paying off more then if you had not tested at all.

Split Test Your Landing Pages

This one might be harder to do for people who pay to have their landing pages made for them, but is still crucial in optimizing your marketing campaign for the best results possible.  Take site1 and site2, two different layouts, color schemes and even wording and run them for a week.  During this week, look at the conversion rate, bounce rate, and even the time spent on each site.  This will give you an idea as to which landing page is performing better for you.

Conversion rate is an easy stat to look at.  If site2 is converting a lot better then site1, ditch site1 or change site1 to compete with site2’s stats.  Imagine if you never started split testing your landing pages, you would have never known that site2 was better then site1.  Site1 would not have made you as much money and in some cases you would have left the niche to collect dust since your first site never worked out.

Bounce Rate is confusing for some people, it is just a percentage they know nothing about.  When a viewer comes to your site, does not stay very long or click on other links they will leave.  This is a bounce by that viewer.  The higher your bounce rate is, the less effective that landing page is for your marketing campaign.  Try to shoot for a bounce rate of 25%-35% for most niche’s.  This boils down to your site design and the content you are providing.  If the site looks unprofessional, cluttered and full of ads then chances are your bounce rate is higher then what it could be.  Your content is also important in lower your bounce rate, people will leave your site if they do not find what they are looking for right away.  Landing pages should be clean and have the most important content and call to action above the fold.  Above the fold simply means the user does not have to scroll down to view your important information.

Time spent is often times over looked by many marketers because they want conversion’s and sales.  They do not care if the visitor was there for 15 seconds or 5 minutes.  Do not overlook this stat though, by increasing the viewers average time they spend on your site, you are increasing the chances of a sale or conversion.  This goes back to the quality of content and even the design of your landing page.

Split Testing Banner Ads

If you are using banner advertising to market a website, you might be confined to one size of the banner.  That is fine, but you are not always confined to the color’s you can use or making it animated or not.  You want your banner to pop on the site is resides on, if it doesn’t pop, it is simply just another square box on the screen for the viewer to ignore.  Their a few different ways to track your banner ads, but I will go into greater detail another time for this.  When split testing your banner ads, make sure you are tracking the hits from each website you are advertising on.  If a site is not driving traffic for you, even after testing multiple banner ads, it is time to cut ties and move on.

In The End

It is crucial for any internet marketing campaign to split test the advertising material to find the best possible results.  With better results comes more traffic and conversion.  This traffic and higher conversion rates will bring more money into your pocket and make your marketing campaign that much more of a success.  It does take more time, creating more marketing materials and research research research.  Without spending the time on researching your results, your split testing efforts will not be as accurate.  Yes you could split test two things and see which one brings in more sales or conversions.  However, if you study your stats for each site, you can make changes and tweak them to have them convert better for you.

Tomorrow I will go into split testing for an email marketing campaign, what to do and what not do to.  What are your thoughts on split testing?  Do you split test any of your marketing material or do you just throw it out and there and wait for the results?

3 Reasons Why You Should Never Use Click Here As Your Anchor Text

SteveGeneral

When doing a search on Google for the term click here, I see 1,440,000,000 results being shown. I cannot believe that so many people still use this to let viewers know about clicking a link. yes I know, not all of those pages will have that as the anchor text, still the number is astonishing. Your links should stand out to the reader, give them a reason to click on it without having to read anything before it. Most of the time viewers go to a site for a specific reason, they need to be able to scan over your page and have the links stick out to them. Here are just a few reason’s why you should not be using click here as your anchor text.

1. Most People Are Not Stupid

In today’s internet world, people know when they see blue text color, or any color text change for that matter, it is a link. It does not have to be underlined either, people know to click on it. Would you give someone a present with a big sign on it that says “Open Me”? Of course not, they know that they rip the paper or open the box to see what is inside. The same goes for links, people know they have to click on them to see what is on the next page.

2. Click Here Links Are Not SEO Friendly

For SEO purposes, using click here is just shooting yourself in the foot. For most of your links, you want to include some type of keyword in them. This is more appealing the the search engines and does have an effect on how well your site ranks. If you have 50 links throughout your site that use relevant keywords to that page, you are bettering your chances to rank higher then simply using click here. I am sure you have heard it a thousand times, use relevant keywords in your anchor text.

3. No Call To Action

Using the anchor text of “click here” does not give your site any specific call to action right away. Click here for what? Will I be taken to a contact page, a more information page, an order page, etc.? Make it clear to the viewer what that link is for. I see it quit often on ebook landing pages, they want the people to buy their product, but where the hell is the call to action? Give the viewer a reason to click on that link without having to read your long ass pitch. I do not care that Sally made $xxxxx from your ebook, I just want to buy the damn thing.

Think about these things the next time you are choosing your anchor text. It is still a common mistake people make with there website and can actually hurt the chances of ranking the site better. All inbound links that point to other pages on your site should all contain a keyword or keyword phrase that best describes the page you are linking to. I am sure you can come up with other reason’s as to why people should not use click here as the anchor text, let me know what some of them are and by all means make them funny if you can. It is Monday and I need a good laugh.

Patience Is A Virtue - All Marketers Need To Realize This

SteveGeneral

As with anything in life, it is not always good to try and rush things. You want your steak to get done quicker, you turn up the heat on the grill and burn the outside leaving the middle still raw. You hate rush hour traffic, so you start weaving in and out of lanes, next thing you know you get clipped and turned around. This is what can happen whey you have no patience and try and rush the outcome of things. This past week I have tried my best to walk you through a process in getting started with your online business. Everything from scheduling your time, having passion for what you do, learning to focus and yesterday it was all about the marketing hustle.

Today I want to emphasize on patience and why it is important for you to not only understand, but why you need to grasp it at times. With any new online business, it takes time to grow. Unless you are already well known on the internet, when you put up your new site it will not be a success in a week.

Patience Is Like Climbing A Ladder

Let’s say the top of the ladder is where the big money is at, you want to get there one day, but in the mean time you have to take one step at a time. No there is no elevator either, so don’t even try it. In order to get to the top of that ladder, you need to take each step. Trying to rush to the top can find you either stepping through a broken step or tipping the ladder over and falling flat on your ass. With your marketing efforts, you cannot expect to see great results overnight. This is true for people running PPC campaigns, not every campaign you setup will rock the stat charts. You should be testing your ads, see which phrase combinations are bringing you the most traffic that is converting for you. Testing your ad variations takes time, which requires patience to see the end result.

Is It All A Waste?

You spend countless hours commenting on blogs, submitting your articles, talking to site owners in an effort to get more back links, etc. The days start adding up and you are not seeing very much from your efforts, so you are thinking of just giving this up and look to do something else. You were hustling, but only for a few days, maybe a week and do not see much coming out of it. Guess what people, you need to be patient with it. Great things are not going to happen overnight or even in a week with a brand new site that you have high hopes for. You keep doing this and have the patience, the results will show. At times you might get frustrated thinking this isn’t going to work for you, stay positive, continue to hustle and your patience will pay off.

How To Balance Your Life To Start An Online Business

SteveGeneral

Their are many of you out there who are currently working a full time job and may even have a family to take care of while trying to start something online.  If you are single and only have to worry about your current job, then you should have more time to devote to starting your business.  Notice I am not using the term website or blog in the title, the reason for that is because you are starting a business.  You will be creating a website, but I want you to focus on the bigger picture, that being your new business.  I see a lot of people claiming they do not have the time to devote in starting something online due to the fact they have a job and a family to take care of.  There is always time, the thing is you need to balance your life schedule to make the time.  If you cannot make the time, how do you expect to start a new business and promote it?  You can create a website, but if you do not offer fresh content, ideas, interaction, promotion, there is almost no way it is going to take you anywhere.

This is where most people just give up on the idea of starting a business online, however I want to encourage you or even light a fire under your ass to say it can be done.  Remember that being negative about yourself and what you can accomplish is like trying to run the 100m dash with a 50lb. weight on your back.  You would never try and win a race doing that, so why be negative about starting your online business?  I am going to outline a schedule for a working male/female that have kids.  If you are single or have a girlfriend/boyfriend then you should have a lot more time on your hands.  This is not a fully laid out schedule, as there are many factors that would go into it.  These include what your working hours are, when your kids go to school and get home from school, are they in an after school program, babysitter, etc.  These are ideas you can implement into a schedule for yourself.

Do you work from 9am. - 5pm. ?

This is the common schedule for many people, however not for everyone.  If you get out of work at 5pm then you can be home as quickly as 5:15pm or as late as 6:30pm. depending on the city you live in.  If you live in or commute through a large city then you drive will be longer.  That is not a problem, instead of blasting the radio or talking on your cell phone the entire drive, take that time to brainstorm.  You are alone in the car fighting traffic to get home, utilize that time to come up with ideas for your business or what you need to do when you get home.  Those ideas can be blog posts, video casting, new promotional ideas, contest’s to run or what you need to do when the kids are asleep.  Plan it out ahead of time, so when you get home that is one less thing you have to do.  If you have a great idea, write it down, record it to your phone or get a recording device.

Have the wife or husband start dinner if they get home earlier then you, that way when you do get home it is hopefully almost done.  If you are the cook in the house, then think about what you are going to make for dinner on the drive home.  Remember, that is your time to brainstorm and get things inline as far as what you need to do when you get home.  Either you make the dinner and have your significant other help with the homework, or they are cooking and you can help with the homework when you get home.

After dinner spend time as a family, take the kids outside or go for a walk if you want to.  You could also just stay inside and have the kids do whatever they do and you relax with your husband or wife.  Say by 8pm. have the kids take a shower/bath and get them ready for bed by 8:30pm.  This really depends on how old your kids are and what there bed time is.  Maybe your kids are a lot older and have no interest in playing outside, they just want to hang out in their room talking on the phone or listening to music.

If the kids are in bed by 8:30pm, that gives you an hour or so to spend with your wife or husband.  Alone time for the two of you is needed in any relationship.  You could even spend some of that time discussing ideas for what you want to do online.  If you both share the same passion’s or hobbies then that is GREAT, the two of you could work together in making this business a success.

By 10pm. you want to be on the computer and ready to work.  This is the 3+ hours you spend each night working on your business and getting it not just off the group, but in the air to produce revenue for you and your family.  This is where a lot of people just throw in the towel and say screw it because it is to much work for them.  Well guess what, working a full time job, having a family and wanting to do something online that makes money is not easy.  If it was easy, then everyone in America would be doing it because there are a lot of them who are lazy and want a dream handed to them.

This all boils down to balancing your time, getting organized and setting up a schedule for yourself.  You will see that their is enough time in a day for you to start something that you truly want to do, even if it means only getting 5 hours of sleep a night.  It is a sacrifice you have to take if you really want to have a business online that will generate revenue.  Like I said before, nothing is easy, you need to stay focused on the task’s at hand and know you are going to make this work.  Being negative and telling yourself this cannot be done will do nothing but prove yourself right about those thoughts.  By being positive and following your dream you can succeed.

Your motivation should be to better your family, maybe you hate your day job so that should motivate you even more to make this work.  Starting an online business that you are passionate about will also be motivation to making this work because you will be doing something that you love to do.  It could be talking about gardening tips, your own recipes, model trains, or just about anything.

If you are a single parent, then my hat is off to you for the hard work you are already doing and I not only respect you for taking care of your kids, I want to help you succeed.  This goes for anyone, if you are having a hard time coming up with a schedule that works for you.  By all means contact me with your working hours, your children’s school time, when you get home, what you need to do when you get home, etc.  I will respond back and help you make time to get your online business going.  After all that is my main focus for this site, to educate people with marketing strategies and help them succeed online.

What Is PLR - Private Label Rights And How You Can Benefit From Them

SteveGeneral

PLR stands for Private Label Rights and can be found all over the internet offered to you in several different ways. When you purchase anything that comes with private label rights, that gives you the right to alter that product anyway you see fit and sell it yourself. You can simply change the name of the product, add your name to it and resell it. You can reword the content, add your own to it and resell it again. You even have the right to just give the product away as a bonus offer to your visitors.

PLR products are great for anyone new to internet marketing.  In most cases you will not have the resources, time or even knowledge of creating a product on your own.  Being able to modify a PLR product you purchased is an easy way to get your feet wet.  I know some of you are thinking this is a cheap way out, or it will never work.  You need to think about it from a beginners standpoint, one with no knowledge of design, creating a sales pitch, decent content or even how to make a .pdf file.  Everyone has to start from somewhere, other people just start a few steps ahead of others.

When purchasing something with private label rights, you can be getting just a simple ebook or a complete marketing package.  A complete marketing package could include the following:

  1. Ebook - In most cases this is the core product of the PLR package.  It contains the information you either want to sell or just give away.  Ebooks can come in all different sizes depending on the niche or how well in depth the author wants to go.
  2. Sales Letter - In order to assist you sell the product, some PLR packages will come with it’s very own sales letter for you to use.  I suggest modifying this sales letter so it is not identical to what other people are using.  It would look pretty bad if you sent out a sales letter that someone already received in the past and realized it is the same thing.  This can throw your credibility completely out of the window.
  3. Website - Having a functioning website come with the PLR package is a huge bonus for someone new to internet marketing with little or no design experience.  The hard part is already done for you and you can upload a site right out of the box.  Once again though I recommend you alter the text that came with the PLR product so it is not identical to other sites.  If twenty people who bought the PLR package all used the site, you would have duplicate content running rampant and can see a penalty from the search engines for that.  Changing the text around to make it your own is a must, all you really care about is the free design.  If you are not comfortable in writing your own text for the site, then you can always outsource content writing for a fairly cheap price.
  4. Graphic Images - These can be images used on the website itself or a 3D box graphic of the ebook.  You have seen them before, it looks like a box or even a book that is three dimensional with shading and drop shadows.  If you have never done graphic design before, these will be just fine when either selling or just giving away your product.  If you change the name of the ebook, chances are you will have to change the name on the graphic images that came with the PLR product.  DO NOT forget to do this, outsource it if you have to.  It can be done for as little as $5 on freelance websites.
  5. Articles - Article marketing is an inexpensive way to get your product out to the general public in a fair amount of time.  Some authors will give you an article or even a set of them for you to use when marketing your product.  Once again though you will want to edit these articles as to avoid any duplicate content issues.  If you do not understand what I mean when I keep say duplicate content, let me know and I will address it in another post.

A private label rights product does not always have to be an ebook.  Technically it could be anything created on a computer that you are giving permission to edit, sell or even give away.  Examples of different types of private label rights material could be the following:

  1. Ebook
  2. Article Package
  3. Special Report
  4. Software
  5. Application Scripts
  6. Complete Websites

After you have bought your PLR product, let’s take a look at the different ways you can utilize them to benefit you better.

  1. Resell It - Plain as it sounds, edit the content slightly and just resell it.  If you are new to marketing and are looking for an easy way to get started, chances are this is the route you will take.  There is no promise it will work, this depends on the niche you are in as well as how you are marketing it.
  2. Bonus Offer - If you already have a product you are selling, adding a PLR product as a free bonus is a great sales tactic used by many successful marketers.  There is nothing wrong with spending a little money on a PLR product to just give it away.  You have to think the other way around, if you did not invest a little money into this product, how many sales would you have lost by not offering it as a bonus to your existing product?
  3. Free Gift - If you have a newsletter, getting new subscribers can be a little difficult at times.  Offering to give away the PLR product by just subscribing to your newsletter is a great way to get more signups.  People love free stuff, especially when they can have almost instant access to it.  Yes some of the people who sign up only want the book, then they will unsubscribe.  Others however will stay on your list, which you can then send them whatever information you like or even up sell them on another product.
  4. Auto Responder Content - If you run an auto responder, purchasing a PLR article package is an easy way to have content sent to your subscribers.  You could send the articles to your subscribers right out of the box, however I suggest changing the content up so it is not identical to the same articles that other’s are giving out or even submitting to article directories.

With this information, it is up to you as to how you want to act upon it.  You have several scenarios and avenues to take, only you can choose which one it will be.  There is no guarantee it will work for you, that comes down to how you market the product.  In the end, you could always create your own product and resell it with private label rights.

Entrecard Is Being Sold On Sitepoint

The popular, or semi popular blogoshhere ad network is currently up for sale on Sitepoint. The site was established in November of 2007 and claims to reach over 20,000 blogs delivering 80 million impressions a month. I personally do not like Entrecard, the system can be manipulated to get free points by easily dropping your card on other sites each day never to return to that site again. I won’t get into the debate of it being a great network to use or if it just sucks. The owner is selling this site due to a venture capital deal that did not work out. They were going to put $700,000 dollars into Entrecard to start, then another $2-$5 million investment in 6 months. With the deal falling through at the last minute, the site owner has lost his drive. After the deal did not go through he said the following:

I just haven’t been able to get back on my feet. I’m a wreck and feeling like a failure to come so close only to drop it due to my idiocy.

The owner is not selling the website to just anyone, he wants to sell it to someone who is willing to pick up where he left off and take it to the next level. The site currently makes enough money each month to pay for there servers. The site though is not monetized, so the potential income could be easily be there. The site owner makes a claim in his post, stating that if the site were to be monetized with his four ideas the site could easily make $30,000 per month. Well if it is that easy, why not implement that strategy now so you can then sell the site at a later time proving the income stream.

That is like selling a car and saying this it has the potential to do a 10 second 1/4 mile. However you will need to put in a turbo kit, 150 shot of Nitrous, and replace the air intake. There is no proof that the car will then do a 10 second run. Now I am not saying that Entrecard cannot make the claimed $30,000 per month, but if you can so easily incorporate your monetization ideas, why not do it now? You would not only be bringing in a good amount of money per month, you will have proof that the site makes money and not just a theory. The owner of the site is Graham Langdon, who also owned Milliondollarwiki.com. He sold that site as it was starting to go downhill and promised to help make it grow and keep it alive for 15 years. Yea well that site is pretty much on life support now. So now Entrecard is labeled as a spam type site and garbage traffic by many, so why not sell it now? What would you do if you were in this situation? You can view the auction here.
